Victoria Immigration Lawyer Ash Forghani and Ciara McLean provide Free Immigration Information to the Victoria BC Community on July 12, 2026

Victoria Immigration Lawyers at the 20th Annual Festival Mexicano

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Victoria immigration lawyer Ash Forghani joined fellow Victoria immigration lawyer Ciara McLean at the 20th Annual Festival Mexicano in Victoria, British Columbia, where the pair spent the day providing free immigration information to members of the public. Hosted at Ship Point in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, the festival celebrated two decades of Mexican culture, music, food, dance, and community while welcoming thousands of visitors from across Vancouver Island and beyond.

The annual festival, organized by the Mexican Canadian Community Association of Victoria, has become one of the city’s signature multicultural events. Visitors enjoyed authentic Mexican cuisine, mariachi performances, Ballet Folklórico, live entertainment, family activities, and cultural exhibits throughout the weekend. Organizers expected thousands of attendees over the two-day celebration, reflecting the continued growth and vibrancy of Victoria’s Mexican and Latin American communities.

Against this colourful backdrop, Victoria immigration lawyer Ash Forghani and Ciara McLean set up their “Ask an Immigration Lawyer” booth with a simple goal: make reliable Canadian immigration information accessible to anyone with questions. Throughout the day, they welcomed individuals and families seeking general guidance on a wide range of immigration topics, including permanent residence pathways, work permits, study permits, visitor status, family sponsorship, citizenship, and the Canadian immigration process.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Although Festival Mexicano celebrates Mexican heritage, the event attracts a remarkably diverse audience. Visitors stopped by from many different countries, each with unique immigration journeys and questions about building a future in Canada. Conversations ranged from newcomers hoping to establish themselves in British Columbia to long-time residents seeking information for family members abroad.

Community outreach events such as Festival Mexicano provide an important opportunity to bridge the gap between legal professionals and the public. Immigration law can often seem overwhelming, with constantly evolving policies, application requirements, and procedural rules. Many people simply do not know where to begin or whether the information they have found online is accurate. By offering free general information in a welcoming community setting, Ash and Ciara were able to help attendees better understand their options while encouraging them to seek professional advice when their circumstances required individualized legal guidance.

The event also highlighted the importance of accessibility. Rather than requiring people to schedule an office consultation, community members could casually approach the booth, introduce themselves, and ask questions in an informal environment. This relaxed setting encouraged meaningful conversations and allowed people to receive trustworthy information without hesitation. Many attendees expressed appreciation for having direct access to experienced immigration lawyers willing to answer their questions and explain complex concepts in plain language.

Festival Mexicano itself represents the values that make Canada a welcoming and diverse society. The celebration showcased the traditions, music, food, and culture of Mexico while bringing together Canadians from many different backgrounds. The sense of community throughout the festival perfectly complemented the mission of the Ask an Immigration Lawyer initiative: helping newcomers and prospective immigrants better understand Canada’s immigration system while fostering inclusion and connection.

Ash Forghani and Ciara McLean would like to thank Miguel Espinosa and the Mexican Canadian Community Association of Victoria, its volunteers, sponsors, performers, and organizers for creating such an outstanding event. Their dedication over the past 20 years has helped make Festival Mexicano one of Victoria’s most anticipated multicultural celebrations and an excellent opportunity for community organizations to engage with the public.

Overall, the day was an overwhelming success. Meeting so many wonderful people, answering immigration questions, and contributing to such a vibrant community celebration made for an incredibly rewarding experience. Ash Forghani and Ciara McLean look forward to participating in many more Ask an Immigration Lawyer events in the future, continuing their commitment to providing accessible immigration information and supporting newcomers as they pursue their Canadian immigration goals.
